Any moves towards a sustainable future must be based on a sound anthropology. Most people are not suddenly going to turn into vegan hippies in response to XR protests they see on the news. However most people will be up for change if they can see that a 'green' lifestyle is one they can identify with.
We need a complete rethink of our transport polocies. Part of that will be shifting the relationship people - particularly men - have with their vehicles.
The process will be long and will require green vehicles that 'petrol head' (probably men) want to drive. The viewing figures for 'Top Gear' and its sucessors show just how large a constituency this is. It cannot be ignored. It must be worked with and won over. A Nissan Leaf will not do that.
