I am using lock down to fettle my old tools. The first project is the stanley plane today. Doing anything like this is orders of magnitude easier than it was even 20 years ago because of the enormous quantity of great YouTube vids on almost any topic of repair you can name.

This is a plane I bought myself when I was building my own tool kit as I set up living on my own with my own house. Bought around 1980. I was rather disappointed to realise that it had a plastic rather than brass adjustment nut. Lowering of quality was begining in the 80s. It still falls into the category of built to last.
The plane is now all sharp and ready to go. Tested on some off cuts from the pallet project - which identified that pallet would is not good enough for decent carpentry. Now I need something to make.
